A public memorial service for Brother Dharmananda will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at 1:00 pm., at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills.

Brother Dharmananda, a beloved monk and minister of Self-Realization Fellowship for more than 50 years, peacefully left his body Tuesday morning, April 29, at our Hidden Valley Ashram Center. During the course of an exemplary life of spiritual dedication, service, and devotion to God and Guru, Brother Dharmananda helped and uplifted many thousands of souls who benefited by his wise and compassionate counsel. Brother Dharmananda was Richmond Temple’s first Minister. You may look at the SRF Web Site for updates.

As we offer Brother Dharmananda our loving prayers and goodwill, please join us in sending gratitude to him at this time of transition to the higher realms of light and bliss.

Our ministers will next be here May 15 through 18.  Please clcik "Our Calendar" for dates and times of regular services and Temple activities.

Richmond Temple’s Movie Night on Saturday, May 17 will feature "The Miracle of Marcelino".   This is a vintage foreign film that tells the story of a group of Spanish monks who find themselves caring for a young orphan boy at their countryside monastery.  The boy develops a special, simple and spontaneous relationship with Christ Jesus that proves to have a lasting inspirational influence on the monastics. The evening will begin with fellowship and light refreshments at 7 pm. Although we’re not necessarily encouraging parents to bring their children, the movie is appropriate for children five years and older.
There will not be a Saturday night meditation that evening.
There is a sign up sheet on the information table for those who would like to serve at the event.

Sunday, May 18, the Young Adults will have a short hike and spiritual discussion on finding your true vocation in life. Meet
that day at the fountain outside after the service. Please wear proper shoes and dress in layers. A light picnic lunch will be provided.

Our next fellowship class is on Sunday, May 18th from 12:30 to 2:00 pm.  The topic is “Nurturing Spirituality through Creative Expression.”

Friends and family of Al Fink warmly invite you to come to his 90th Birthday Party!  The celebration will be held at Richmond Temple, on Sunday June 8 from 12 to 4 pm. Brother Achalananda will be on hand to tell stories of the early days at Richmond Temple and to thank Al for his over 50 years of service to SRF. If you would like to help at this event, please sign-up at the information table. We are also creating a special book of pictures of the early days at Richmond Temple.  If you have pictures that we can copy of Al Fink or events at Richmond Temple, please leave your name at the information table.

If you, or your committee, are planning an event for next year, please submit a blue proposal form as soon as possible, as our calendar-planning meeting will be held on May 23.  Blue proposal forms can be found in the special events room. If you have questions, please contact the temple assistant.

Fliers for upcoming events are available in the foyer, as well as a copy of these announcements.

Temple Fundraiser

Richmond Temple's fundraiser is making great progress.  Click here to download a PDF for information about our upcoming projects.

Richmond Temple is a branch of Self-Realization Fellowship, founded by Yogananda in 1920, with international headquarters in Los Angeles. Our minister in charge is Brother Devananda, and Brahmachari Wolfgang is our assistant minister.

Twice monthly we are visited by minister monks or nuns from SRF Mother Center. Check our Temple Calendar for our next minister visit and join us if you can. Once a month, a minister offers Satsanga, answers from Yogananda's teaching to spiritual questions posed by members of Richmond Temple. Your Satsanga questions can now be submitted online. When you use our new Online Satsanga Box, your questions go directly and confidentially to our Minister-In-Charge.
