Sunday Morning Services

Twice a month, Richmond Temple is visited by monks or nuns from the  International Headquarters of Self-Realization Fellowship. On these weekends, monastics lead the Sunday Morning Services. On alternate Sundays, lay members conduct reading services based on Paramahansa Yogananda's talks and writings. Please consult the Calendar for information about upcoming Sundays.

Sunday Morning Meditations

Meditation begins at 10 a.m. and continues until 10:45 a.m. Meditation Services include periods of prayer, chanting and silent meditation. Paramahansa Yogananda emphasized that the united devotion and concentration of many participants can powerfully increase the depth of each individual's meditation. These services provide opportunities to practice the methods of concentration and meditation taught in the Self-Realization Fellowship Lessons . In order to preserve the peace of the meditation, please arrive on time and sit quietly. All adults are welcome to attend.

Sunday Lecture & Reading Services

Services begin promptly at 11 a.m. and offer the opportunity for a deeper understanding of the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda and to meet like-minded devotees in an atmosphere of spiritual fellowship. These services include readings from Paramahansa Yogananda’s writings, as well as periods of devotional chanting, silent meditation, and prayer.

Prayer Service

At the close of our regular services, we practice the spiritual healing technique taught by Paramahansa Yogananda and pray for the physical, mental and spiritual healing of others, and for world peace and harmony. For a full description of this technique, read about the Self-Realization Fellowship Worldwide Prayer Circle at the Self-Realization Fellowship Website.
