Volunteers maintain the beauty of the grounds and the quality of the regularly scheduled and special events at Richmond Temple. The service is offered in the spirit of generosity exemplified by Paramahansa Yogananda's life and teachings. Volunteers can serve on one committee or many, according to their wishes.
- General Temple Committee includes all who are interested in helping to make the decisions about the Temple's activities. It meets on an as-needed basis on the second minister-Sunday, from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. All are encouraged to participate. Attending General Temple Committee meetings is a good way to learn about our activities and to meet our chairpersons and other volunteers. Please consult the Calendar for the next meeting if you want to attend.
- Temple Management Council is drawn from the Temple committee chairpersons, who meet with the minister-in-charge to help him run the Temple.
- Landscaping & Maintenance helps keep our Temple and grounds looking lovely. Volunteers mostly work on monthly Days of Service. Everyone is needed and welcome to serve; no special skills are required. Those with more general maintenance and basic gardening skills serve beside those with more specialized knowledge. Volunteers mostly work on the monthly Days of Service (first Saturday of every month).
- Service Committee oversees the running of all of our public services. Subcommittees include Service and Meditation Leaders and Readers, Ushers, Commemorative Services, Organists, Kirtan Group, and Flowers.

- Bookroom Committee handles the inventory and retails sales of SRF Publications.
- Temple Outreach welcomes visitors to our Temple and gives care and comfort to those in need. This committee includes our Greeters and our Prayer Council. It also manages our Annual Food and Coat Drives.
